Our Speaker Today
Sheila Elser was our speaker today and she came at a moments notice!! Sheila is a Speech and Language Pathologist who works in the Monroe School System. She also happens to be Mike Elser's wife.
Currently, she is working with third and fourth grade children, but she has worked with high school aged children and in nursing homes as well. Speech pathology is more than handling r's and w's. Sheila works with children that have speech difficulties, swallowing difficulties, comprehension difficulties, communication difficulties and children with autism.
She has to identify the problem and will track the child's progress throughout his/her schooling. The student is released once he/she graduates high school or sooner if the problem is taken care of.
The earlier a speech language pathologist can intervene with a particular problem, the greater the result is. Thanks to Sheila for coming in today!!!
Absent Members Today
