Our Speaker Today Jane Walsh, speaker chair, introduced Alyssa Stafford our outbound student to Poland. Alyssa was in Poland for 11 months and said it was the best experience of her life. Her host family treated her as a guest for the duration of her stay with them. She had the opportunity to travel from Poland to France, Ireland and a few other countries. As far as the language barrier was concerned, she said that she picked up the language fairly quickly through immersion. She showed slides from her trip that showed different areas of interest, her host family and other exchange students from Rotary. She really enjoyed the times that she was able to meet up with the other students. They formed a very strong bond. She gained a great deal of independence during her 11 month stay. Alyssa kept up with her studies at an International School with many other students that were traveling abroad. One of Alyssa's parting comments was she was surprised that more students in the area have not taken the opportunity that she did. She offered to be a "walking, talking advertisement" for the program. Alyssa was great and we really enjoyed having her represent Rotary in Poland.
Absent Members Today Mary Connolly, Mike Elser, Jeff Gray, Marcelo Martins, Jack Prior, Tony Purcaro, Donna Warner
