Membership Anniversaries n/a Our Speaker Today Peter Blum. District Manager for Junior Achievement of Southwest New England spoke to us today. What is a want v.s. a need? JA is instrumental in bringing "Real World" situations and learning experiences to children K-12. For example: balancing checkbooks, learning about businesses and how they work, learning about community and why it should be supported, how to interview for a job etc. Junior Achievement is running an event at Western School on April 29th called JA in a Day. It will run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. There is a need for 18 volunteers to help with this program. They will be trained to run classes for children along with the teachers. This provides increased curriculum for the children and the classes are set to CT curriculum standards. A catered lunch will be provided for the volunteers. This is an excellent oppotunity for Rotarians to become involved. Contact Peter Blum at 573-0636 or email him at pblum@jaconn.org to register.
Absent Members Today Debbie Corso, Jose DaSilva, Michael Steir, Bruce Steinway, Donna Warner, Donald Zehnder
