Rotary International Theme 2003-2004 - Lend A Hand

August 27, 2003

Meeting Today:

President Jack called our meeting to order promptly at 12:15PM by leading us in the Pledge. Milt G. led us in song. President Jack then led us in the Four Way Test, he was really tested and had help from the membership. George R. provided his final invocation to the membership.

Things got rolling when Milt G. leading us in song, "You Tell Me Your Dream".

Barbara C. recently returned from a trip to France and Monte Carlo. Due to her alleged 'man' (woman) handling of a foiled pick pocket attempt in France she has been asked to run for Lt. Governor on the Arnold Schwartzenegger ticket in CA!  She reportedly to Arnold, "Asta Lavista BeBe!" George R. paid his last two bucks, one being a sad dollar because he will be leaving CT for FL but the happy dollar was for being blessed with eight years of friendship in the Naugatuck Rotary Club. John F. paid two dollars, one for the arrival of a 7lb. 11oz. granddaughter who is named Emma and the second for his wonderful words for being able to facilitate such a wonderful memorial service for our passed fellow Rotarian Bruce T. Rogers and being able to share in the outpouring of love displayed by the Naugatuck Rotarians to the Rogers family. Mike S. then paid a dollar for being so lucky to be in a business that strangers walk up and put glasses of wine in his hand!  Jeff C. was fined for passing the 'treasurers' duties off to Debbie C. Kim K., Donna W., Duncan S. and Mike S. were fined for wearing shorts.  Tracey for being unavailable while Steve P. and Marcel M. were at JFK Airport picking up our inbound Exchange Student, Gaspar. They were also fined for taking him to a 'strip club'. Steve told us it was part of the orientation.  Don Z. for having his picture with his bride in the church bulletin for their 50th wedding anniversary. Congratulations to you folks. In Barbara's never ending quest to pinch a buck out of everyone, a general fine was levied against all members in attendance who were wearing a watch.

Quote for the week:  "The bad news is, time flies. The good news is, you're the pilot".

Michael Althsuler
