Marcelo Martins stood in for the speaker chair, Chuck Beebe. Marcelo reintroduced Robert Klancko to our club. Bob has visited with us before. Today, he spoke to us regarding a potential fund raiser, a Russian Christmas/Russian New Year Tea. Bob and his wife have helped with many teas in the past and the teas have always been very well received. Since Slavic people follow the Julian calendar, their Christmas and New Year fall in January which is typically a very dead month. People are looking for something to do after the "high" of the holidays. The activity will be an afternoon tea at which tea from Russian Samovars (Russian teapots) will be served along with babka. Russian music will be provided (a balalaika trio if possible); Russian Carol singers and hosts in Russian costumes. There will be Russian artifact displays along with souvenirs to purchase. Possible dates for the Tea are Saturday, January 10th, Sunday, January 11th, Saturday, January 17th, Sunday, January 18th. Bob was kind enough to distribute a time line and responsibilities sheet to us. We will discuss this idea and see if it is a feasible event for us. We want to thank Bob for his time and effort. We very much appreciate his good will and enthusiasm.
