Our Speaker Today

Mr. J Krayeske - CT Boxing Commission

John Ford was the speaker host today and introduced Mr. Krayeske who is the chairman of the State of Connecticut Boxing Commission. Mr. Krayeske gave some history of boxing in our state. In 1965 Governor John Dempsey banned boxing in CT. In 1972 Governor John Meskill brought it back. It wasn’t highly promoted and from 1975 through 1992 only 3 matches were held here in the State. Governor Lowell Weicker gave our 2 casinos the right to have boxing matches held, but being sovereign nations, the State of Ct. Boxing Commission has no authority at the casinos.

Governor Jodi Rell has place placed the State boxing commission under the Ct Dept. of Public Safety. There are 9 staff members in the commission and they are all volunteers.
