Our Speaker Today

David Prendergast, CEO of Naugatuck Economic Development Corporation

Speaker host, Laurie Yelding introduced David Prendergast,CEO of the Naugatuck Economic Development Corporation. Dave brought us up to date to the happenings in the Naugatuck Industrial Complex and around town. NEDC is a public/private partnership dedicated to assisting the town in marketing for new business location, business expansion and downtown revitalization, including Renaissance Place Project. Supported by the borough of Naugatuck and various members of the business community, NEDC has had success for business in Naugatuck.

Recently, the NEDC along with support from CL&P and Yankee Gas hosted a business to business expo at the new Pennsylvania Steel building  for Industrial Park companies to get together and learn more about one another and do some business with each other. It was a great success!

The NEDC has assisted a number of new and existing companies relocate into Naugatuck.

Pennsylvania Steel Corporation completed a 65,000 sq.ft. building at the top of Great Hill Road. NEDC helped them with frontage issues which allowed them to build on that site.

Ground Up Restorationwhich is brand new to Naugatuck, purchased the SP Skinner building on Great Hill Road and just recently had their open house.

RAM Welding added over 18,000 sq. ft. to their existing building. MJM Eyelet has a 19,500 sq. ft. building.

YoFarmhas acquired the yogurt production of Breyers and moved one of their production lines to Spring Street.

Northeastern Communicationsmoved into the Exmet building.

Vitek Research Corporationis a high tech coating operations for medical devices has moved from Derby to Sheriden Drive in the industrial park.

Parcel C clean up has begun and should be finished by late June of 2010. DOT has agreed to improve our train station and there will be additional parking for commuters. St Mary's Medical Center is real and will be a great asset to downtown. The Riverwalk will be under construction this summer and will begin by the Polish American Club and go all the way to Maple Street.

If you have any questions, or would like to meet with the NEDC, please contact Dave at 203-723-4411 or email him at info@naugatuckedc.com.
